Bargate Homes

branding a new development

Archers Wood

Bargate approached Rooster to create a visual identity and narrative for Archers Wood.

Bargate sets itself apart from other developers. All marketing materials must exceed expectations – and for us to achieve that, we had to do our homework.

As part of our research, we went on location to soak up the local area. Archers Wood is set in the small yet accessible village of Fair Oak – close to Southampton and Winchester but also within striking distance of the South Downs. Our brief was to create a modern identity that respects tradition; one that would appeal to the target demographic.

We researched amenities nearby – and The Garden Society stood out. It’s an artisan garden centre, bursting with character. With the client, we approached The Garden Society to collaborate on the brochure, interior decoration of show homes and to develop a pop-up Bargate home within the garden centre. It became one of the defining moments in the creation of our marketing materials.

With our research, we worked up several different identities, based on the forest and the countryside location. We devised a premium feel and mocked the identities up within templates, so that Bargate could get a sense for how the final product would look. Upon review, Bargate and the Rooster team chose a stylistic serifed “A” which incorporated countryside embellishments.

Meanwhile, our photographic team were deployed on location, capturing everything that makes the area great, including interior shots of The Garden Society. We dcaptured the rolling English countryside – an appealing lifestyle that Bargate wanted to portray.

With the visual identity of Archers Wood signed off, we then set about creating a stylistic structure throughout our brochure. We to create an enjoyable piece of literature – not just a regular marketing brochure. We achieved this by using the sizeable library of lifestyle photography we’ve developed for Bargate, applying the images to large spreads with just the right amount of copy.

We designed a stylised map to show where Archers Wood is in relation to major hub towns and railway lines – and worked Bargate’s core values into every page.

Our copywriter took the messaging to a level the client was looking for, wrapping up the brochure as an immersive lifestyle piece.

After several rounds of amends, we completed the brochure on time and to budget. We recommended the printed stock and embossed the logo to add further embellishment to the brochure.

Bargate had 1,000 printed copies delivered to their sales suite. With our integrated social and web campaigns, the brochure has been a focal point in the overall marketing toolkit – helping to drive sales at Archers Wood.
