Video Content is Here to Stay – All Thanks to Mobile
- 08 May 2015
It’s no secret that mobile devices are fast becoming the primary tool for media consumption – modern websites, social media and mobile apps are now intrinsically designed for mobile-first ecosystems.
As a consequence, consumer attention is much harder to earn. Media channels are noisy, with many brands and organisations competing to communicate their message through video content.
Video content succeeds where written and audio promotion falls short, based on the simple premise that video is easy to digest. From a marketing perspective, videos are a great way to drive engagement and are no-doubt one of the best marketing tactics to communicate a strong message in a short space of time.
Video Content Statistics
Back in 2012, YouTube head of content Robert Kyncl famously stated: “Video will soon make up 90% of global online traffic”. This claim was never quite realised, but fast-forward to 2015 and it’s suggested video will account for 72% of total mobile data traffic by 2019, according to a recent study by Cisco.
The same study estimates that over ⅔ of the global population will have access to a mobile device by the end of the decade; it’s no surprise that video content is tipped to dominate global Internet traffic for many years to come.
Google’s own data reports claim that YouTube receives more than one billion unique visitors every month, which is more than any other channel, excluding Facebook. Similar reports claim that one in three Britons views at least one online video a week – that’s a weekly audience of more than 20 million people in the UK alone.
There are also some pretty wild statistics suggesting video performance is better than print & direct mail combined, and whilst we don’t like to draw a direct comparison between digital and print, we know from experience our own video content is up there with the best for driving engagement.
Professional corporate videos and 3D animations perform exceptionally well online, or as part of an exhibition setup. Some recent examples of our videos & 3D animations can be found below:
